About Dail Community

The Dail Community, is an NGO that "Start(ed) with the food-sharing proejct, 'Babsang Nanum' in 1988, have conducted other such food-sharing, charitable programs such as Babfor (Freemeal), Bbanfor (Free Bread), Dreamfor (educational programs), Healthfor (Medical services)" "As Korea's representative NGO that suggests practical ministry work as a means to provide unconditional support for underpriviliged neighborhoods" (soruce:https://dail.org)

Between Feb 22nd to March 22, CEEI had the opportunity to host our second English camp in Dail Community Cambodia

Week 1

Theme: My name is...

Similar to our first week in our first initaitve, we focused in introductory activities that taught self-introductory phrases like "my name is.." "what's your name?" with DIY name placards and level test worksheets which identified the student's differing levels.​ We added a new activity of making name bracelets to familiarize the students with alphabets!

Week 2

Theme: Woof Moo Who? Animals!

Another continued theme from the first initiative, animals! With tactile play using playdohs and worksheets with animals ranging from cows to dogs, we soon zoomed in by introducing the concept of phonics with 3 letter animal words like d-o-g and co-w

Week 3

Theme: Body Parts

From body portraits, hand paint and with an array of games of 'simon says' and 'twister' later, students could recite their body parts from heads to shoulders by the end of the day!

Week 4

Theme: Colors & Numbers

With active recall and patterns, colors and numbers in English was introduced with DIY flashcards, pipe cleaner-flower numbers with colorful beads and a game of hopscotch

  • Colored paper & active recall

  • Phonics revision with flashcards

  • Hopscotch numbers and colors recitation

  • Pipe cleaner flowers: Flower petals = Numbers in English, Flower stems = Number of beads associated with the petal label

Week 5

Theme: 3,2,1, Action!

Now that we know our body parts... lets learn how to describe actions with our bodies!

  • Random location race ​​> Students run to 4 random locations either by walking, running or dancing! (the teachers called out a random action verb)​​

  • Active paper man activity > Students made their own paper man with flexible joints to be used to act out according verbs

  • Snatch! > Students stood in two lines facing their opponents of the other liine. Students had to act out the according verb that was called out until they heard the word 'snatch' in which they had to grab the object between them and the opponent as fast as they can!
